ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department arrested two 18-year-olds accused of shooting a man after a fight downtown early Sunday morning. According to APD, Matthew Akugue and Isaiah Martinez said the man gave them “dirty looks,” and then an argument started. According to Martinez, the man slapped Akugue. After that, APD said they got into a vehicle, pulled up to the man at the roundabout at Central Ave. and 8th St., and Martinez shot him.
Through surveillance video and License Plate Readers, APD was able to track the vehicle and arrest Akugue, who said that Martinez shot the victim.
Akugue and Martinez are facing several charges, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
