ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque is celebrating young writers who submitted their work for the 43rd annual ‘A Senior I Know’ essay contest. Students from 1st – 5th grade wrote essays honoring older adults who made a difference in their lives.
The contest gives the younger generation a chance to share a highlight or a positive relationship with a senior in their life/community. The city says over 800 essays were submitted this year. Six winning essays were selected from each grade. Each winner received a medal, certificate and a commemorative booklet that features their essay and its artwork.
