Albuquerque City Council fails to override veto on voting system change

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquqerque’s voting system, which requires a candidate to receive 50% of the vote to win, will remain in place. On Monday, Albuquerque City Council rejected an override to Mayor Tim Keller’s veto of a bill that would have allowed a plurality voting system and eliminated run-off elections.


Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency hopes to add new life to CABQ-owned lot

Councilors originally passed the measure that would have gone on the November ballot but the mayor vetoed it. It was a 5-4 vote which is one vote short to override a veto.
