Albuquerque officials unveil new Westgate sports fields

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque unveiled new sports fields on Monday. City officials said Westgate residents typically have to travel around the city to find spaces to stretch out and have fun, but with these new athletic fields, the community can come together closer to home.

“I can’t wait to see 400 to 500 people out in this park just playing…..It’s a space for our older teens as well, our teenagers and our youth of today, that no matter what hardships there going through go grab a ball, go grab a Frisbee, call up your mates and just come down to the park and just forget about the world for an hour or two and just enjoy it,” said Callum Ralph, Director of Coaching, American Youth Soccer Organization.

The new fields also have lights, parking, and a walking path.
