Calmer conditions ahead for Sunday

We have quite a change of pace on tap to the start the new week. Compared to Saturday, today will be starting on a chillier note. Temperatures in Albuquerque have dropped into the low 50s making it a seasonal start to the day. Further north into Southern Colorado and the Upper Rio Grande Valley colder temperatures have settled in with lows bottoming out in the low 30s and low 20s. A Freeze Warning is in place for the Upper Rio Grande Valley and the San Luis Valley until 9 this morning. Today, temperatures are expected to bit cooler in a few areas after a pacific front passed through on Saturday.

Also, calmer conditions have settled in across New Mexico. The low-pressure system that brought us windy conditions across the state yesterday is pulling out of the region. Southern winds will be slightly breezy around 5-10 mph in Albuquerque in the afternoon gusts may reach 15 mph later tonight. Winds this morning have also calmed down in the vertical at Balloon Fiesta Park, which will allow for a mass ascension on the second day! Monday morning is expected to have calmer conditions in place too. Dry conditions will take precedent as we start the week before moisture returns this week.

An uptick of moisture will bring us isolated to scattered storm chances throughout the week in New Mexico. There is a slight chance that Tuesday and Wednesday could bring heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash flooding potential. Have a great week and enjoy Balloon Fiesta if you are going!
