ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – As the temperatures heat up, the City of Albuquerque is getting ready to open its pools and spray pads.
All of the city’s outdoor pools will be open in 2025, except for Sunport Pool, which is closed pending major structural, plumbing, and deck repairs.

Pool schedule:
- May 24-26: All city outdoor pools open for the holiday weekend. (Indoor pools are open year-round, including on Memorial Day weekend.)
- May 27-May 30: Outdoor pools closed for lifeguard training, emergency response training, facility cleaning, and final preparations.
- May 31: Regular summer pool schedule begins.
- June 9: Full summer programming begins, including swim lessons.
The city said this will be the first full summer of operations for new spray pads at Alamosa Park and Westgate Community Center. The opening schedule for the city’s spray pads is as follows:
Spray pads:
- May 24: Alamosa, North Domingo Baca, Civic Plaza
- June 9: Cesar Chavez Community Center/Phil Chacon Park, Wells Park, and Westgate Community Center
All of the city’s splash pads are open free to the public with the exception of Manzano Mesa, which is included in an annual $20 membership to the Manzano Mesa Multi-Generational Center. The splash pad at the Manzano Mesa Multi-Generational Center is undergoing renovation/expansion and is expected to remain closed this summer. Fee waivers can also be requested.
Summer swim passes are available for advance purchase at play.cabq.gov or in person at any of the city’s swimming pools. Due to the popularity of Eisenhower Pool, Sierra Vista Pool, and the West Mesa Aquatic Center, session capacity is limited, and these facilities sell wristbands for open recreational swim times.
Wristbands can be purchased in person on the day of or reserved online up to two days in advance. Family swim passes are also available.
Special deals at the city’s pools this summer include:
- Kids 17 and under swim for free on Sundays
- Children under the age of 2 swim for free
- $1 swim on Friday nights at select pools
- Free swim passes for foster families and children (new)
Swimming lesson registration for June classes opens at noon on Saturday, May 3, at play.cabq.gov. For July swimming lessons, registration opens at noon on Saturday, June 21.
