NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – High temperatures were a couple of degrees warmer this afternoon compared to Friday, except for northeast New Mexico, where our next cold front has started moving into. The strong backdoor cold front will move across all of New Mexico tonight and into Sunday morning. This will bring high temperatures below average across the majority of New Mexico on Sunday afternoon. The biggest drop in high temperatures will in southeast New Mexico, where it will be 20º cooler than today. Monday morning temperatures will be some of the coldest we have seen all season, with widespread freezing temperatures. Albuquerque will have a chance at finally seeing its first freeze of the season.

Warmer weather returns Monday afternoon, with high temperatures climbing back above average statewide by Tuesday. Unseasonably warm and dry weather will continue into the end of the week, with an increase in moisture likely by next weekend.
