NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico Children, Youth, and Families Department is celebrating an 81% graduation rate among youth in its juvenile justice facilities, which is nearly four times the national average. This month, 37 students will earn high school diplomas or GEDs from CYFD’s accredited schools.
CYFD Secretary Teresa Casados said the diplomas represent real second chances. The schools offer special education, vocational training, and university-supported services to help students take the next steps to rejoin society.
