Garmin’s engineering and software development center in Romania signs lease deal for new office in United Business Center Cluj-Napoca

The business center developed by IULIUS nearby Iulius Mall Cluj, comprised of the United Business Center (UBC) office buildings, announces a new partnership. Garmin, a company with a global presence, specializing in GPS technology and products for various markets, has leased 8,000 sqm in the UBC Tower and UBC Riviera office buildings.

Garmin’s headquarters in Romania is now located in the regional IT hub developed by IULIUS in Cluj-Napoca. From the new offices, more than 550 specialists at Garmin continue their work with the company’s global teams, contributing toward the development of innovative products for the automotive, aviation, maritime, outdoor, and fitness segments.

“Our partnership with Garmin marks two major premieres both for us and for the entire nationwide business community. On the one hand, this was the largest transaction in terms of surface area in the office space market outside the Capital for 2025; on the other hand, it has relocated Garmin’s only development center in Romania into the UBC hub in Cluj-Napoca. We are confident that the Garmin team will benefit from all the facilities available in the vicinity of their office. Thus, the employees gain a resource that is increasingly valuable in large cities: time,” said Silviu Băbţan, Office Buildings Manager United Business Center Cluj.

“We wanted to have a space that is adapted to our sustainable development in recent years, providing an environment that supports our modern and collaborative way of working, and meeting the requirements regarding functionality, quality, and proximity to urban facilities that are important to our colleagues. We found the right partners who supported us in setting up the new location efficiently, and thus the relocation process went according to our expectations,” said Aida Țicudean, Manager of Garmin Cluj.
