“Energy suppliers have to come up with the right prices for consumers, and this migration of consumers from one supplier to another I think it is very good, it has to be encouraged, so that the suppliers calibrate their offers according to the consumer’s affordability possibilities,” said George Niculescu, president of ANRE, at the annual conference organized by InvestEnergy.
“There has been a lot of talk lately about speculation in the energy market, again about ‘smart guys’ in the energy market, which in a very short time managed to make very big profits. I want to tell you that the regulatory authority in 2024 had absolutely no hesitation to sanction very drastically any attempt to manipulate the energy market, because the attempt is also being sanctioned. We have given some record sanctions for 2024.
George Niculescu explained that ANRE is currently exploring the possibility of introducing the binomial tariff in the energy market.
“There are several scenarios for applying the binomial tariff. We are trying to create the best possible form of this regulation. And when we are ready with the analysis and we will have a form that we consider to be beneficial for all categories of consumers, then we will start a wide public consultation process, as we did with all the regulations,” explained the president of ANRE.
