Romanian rowers Gianina van Groningen and Ionela Cozmiuc won the silver medal in Final A of the women’s double rowing event, light category, on Friday, at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The two Romanian athletes were clocked with a time of 6:48.78. A crew from Great Britain climbed to the first position of the podium (6:47.06), and Greece took third place (6:49.28).
It is the fourth medal of Romanian rowing at Paris 2024, after the gold won by Marian Florian Enache and Andrei Sebastian Cornea in the men’s double sculls, the silver obtained by Ancuța Bodnar and Simona Radiş in the women’s double sculls and the silver of Ioana Vrînceanu and Roxana Anghel in the women’s double sculls.
In total, it is the sixth medal for Team Romania. In swimming, David Popovici won the gold medal in the 200 m freestyle and the bronze medal in the 100 m freestyle.
