A strong area of high pressure has been building over the state this weekend. This has brought near-record to record breaking temperatures this afternoon. Drier air been moving into the state as well with a few strong showers and storms across eastern parts of New Mexico this afternoon.
The near-record and record breaking heat will continue Monday. High temperatures will be a couple degrees cooler Tuesday and Wednesday. But this will be short lived before they climb again Wednesday and Thursday. Dry air will continue with very little to no chances for rain into the end of the week.
