ICE agent from Albuquerque stationed in Chicago arrested for DWI

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – KRQE News 13 has learned that an ICE agent from Albuquerque stationed in Chicago was arrested for drunk driving. Police said 33-year-old Guillermo Diaz-Torres was asleep at the wheel when he crashed an SUV last month in the village of Oak Brook. Diaz-Torres told the officers he had just finished an 18-hour shift at an ICE processing facility.

He denied drinking alcohol. But according to a police report, Diaz-Torrez smelled of alcohol, and he had bloodshot eyes. Diaz-Torrez was seen on body camera struggling to keep his balance at times, and he had difficulty reciting the alphabet. He also refused a breath test. CBS News Chicago reported that Diaz-Torrez was in Illinois for an immigration enforcement effort called Operation Midway Blitz.

He has no criminal history in Chicago, and KRQE News 13 could not find one in New Mexico.
