IULIUS announces its third Family Market convenience retail project, located in Tomești Commune, Iași County. The concept was launched in 2022, with two projects opened in Miroslava Commune and Bucium neighborhood in Iași.
Tomești Commune is located approximately 9 km away from Iași, being a satellite area for the residential boom in the metropolitan area in recent years. IULIUS will allocate approximately 28 million Euro for the upcoming Family Market, with an extensive leasable area spanning approximately 16,000 sqm, as well as a diverse mix of shopping, green spaces, sport, everyday use services, and leisure destinations.
The trade area within a 10-minutes-drive radius includes 55,000 people and could also potentially become a shopping destination for people from the Republic of Moldova, being located close to the border. The approval and permitting process is underway for this development. The work is expected to start by the end of this year, and the estimated completion term is the last quarter of 2026.
“The Family Market concept proved its relevance and usefulness in supporting a better quality of life in the expanding communities adjacent to Iași City, by bringing closer the services that locals needed and could only access in the city, but also by developing as meeting places and relaxation venues. The first such projects in Miroslava and Bucium registered up to 33% sales increases in 2024 compared to 2023, while the number of visitors increased by up to approximately 40%. This is because, alongside the retailers and the locals, we managed to propose a mix of services and products customized to the needs of the communities we address, combining popular brands and local producers, with more than 50% of the tenants being local entrepreneurs. Our experience to date will be applied to Family Market Tomești, a destination that will make life easier for families and provide them with convenient access to the facilities typical of a modern urban lifestyle,” said Radu Pârlea, Family Market Shopping Center Manager.
Family Market Tomești will integrate both a supermarket, and a customized mix of services and locations by local producers: fashion, sports, and home&deco stores, pet-shop, drugstore, medical services, hair salon & barber shop, grocery, confectionery, butcher and meat goods, tailor & alterations and cleaner’s, gardening goods, flower shop, etc.
The project is dedicated to families, so it will also include a playground area for children, while also promoting a healthy lifestyle by integrating a gym. The mix will be complete with a drive-thru type restaurant, as well as food service and coffee shop locations, providing leisure options and enabling social interaction.
The project will also include a park spanning approximately 10,000 sqm, landscaped with mature trees, lawn and decorative plants, as well as pedestrian alleys and activities areas for children. The investment entails the creation of more than 450 parking spaces dedicated to the project, as well as infrastructure upgrade works (widening the adjacent street, creating a roundabout, fitting access routes). The project will also be fitted with bicycle parking spaces and electric vehicle charging stations.
