ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Kirtland Air Force Base visitors should expect delays and temporary service changes as the base conducts an Energy Resilience Readiness Exercise this week.

The exercise will take place on one day between Tuesday and Friday. Base officials will be assessing the installation’s ability to maintain “mission-essential functions” during a simulated regional power outage.
During the exercise period, base personnel and visitors may experience impacts such as:
- Typical gate hours should not be affected, but expect delays
- Traffic control points
- Temporary degradation of services on the installation
- Pharmacy closure
Areas on the installation not expected to be impacted by the simulated power outage include, but are not limited to:
- Base Housing and Dormitories
- Commissary and Base Exchange
- Veterinary Clinic
- Roadrunner Inn Lodging
- Golf Course
- Youth Center
