[1] Body recovered from arroyo after rain pours over parts of New Mexico – Albuquerque Fire Rescue is remind people to stay out of arroyos. According to AFR, they were called to multiple water rescues Sunday after rain began showering the Albuquerque area. Two people were rescued, and one person was deceased when they were recovered near Rachel and Tramway. The department stresses that while storms may seem far away, arroyos can fill up quickly and no one should be in them.

[2] Protests sparked by development proposal on 331 acres north of Taos – Taos County Commissioners will soon decided whether to move a controversial project forward or to stop it in its tracks. The project would sit on the Tarleton Ranch property, spanning more than 300 acres. Developers say it would include homes, retail spaces as well as amenities like dog parks, trails and athletic facilities. However, many residents have concern over the size and commercial emphasis of the project. They say the current infrastructure would be sustainable. Taos County Commissioners are expected to vote on it Tuesday.

[3] Showers and thunderstorms move across New Mexico Monday – Monday morning is a wet one across the northern two-thirds of New Mexico. Areas south of NM 380 are dry with mostly sunny skies. North of NM 380, light to heavy, widespread rain showers are spinning around a low pressure system. We will see scattered rain showers in central, northern, east-central and west-central New Mexico throughout the morning and midday. Skies will dry out a bit after noon, but isolated storms will develop and spin around the state, bringing more storm chances to central, northern and eastern New Mexico.

[4] Federal agencies facing lawsuit for illegal cattle grazing in New Mexico preserve – Three non-profit organizations are now suing the federal government over what they say are years of illegal cattle grazing. The Western Watersheds Project, Wild Earth Guardians and Caldera Action filed the lawsuit against the U.S. Forest Service and Fish and Wildlife. The lawsuit claims that by not fixing illegal grazing in one of the state’s National Preserves, the feds are ignoring the well-being of endangered animals.

[5] Locals share passion for automobiles during ‘Cars and Coffee’ event – A local coffee shop is continuing their tradition of bringing together car enthusiasts over a cup of joe. “Rust is Gold Coffee” has hosted their “Cars and Coffee” event for six years. The shop owners are motorcycle enthusiast as well. They say the event is a great way to build a like-mind community in a fun and safe environment. Cars and Coffee will continue on the second Sunday of each month through September.
