[1] City employees required to pick up trash during work hours ahead of Balloon Fiesta – Mayor Tim Keller’s administration sent out an email Friday telling non-union city workers they were required to spend two hours of their work time picking up trash. In an email sent out last Friday that KRQE News 13 obtained, the city stated that unclassified and clerical workers will be required to sign up for a two-hour paid clean-up shift during their regular work time. That includes about 1,000 workers from many different departments
[2] How will Bernalillo County spend $40.5M in GO Bonds if approved by voters? – On this year’s ballot is a $40.5 million GO bond package for Bernalillo County. On the ballot, the package is divided up among six bond questions. The biggest chunk of the package, $11.7 million, would go to parks with about $2.2 million of that going to the regional recreation complex at Mesa Del Sol. About $10.7 million would go towards transportation needs, including $2 million for phase three of the Bridge Boulevard project. Millions more will go toward public safety, storm drainage, public housing, and libraries.
[3] Warming temperatures & less windy weather – Near-record afternoon temperatures are once again possible for a few areas. As the high pressure continues to the west-northwest ahead, very clear skies with relatively chilly mornings and very warm afternoons will continue all the way through Balloon Fiesta Weekend with only a couple of very weak cold fronts ahead as rain will be hard to come by.
[4] City of Albuquerque officially opens long anticipated slide near Tijeras Canyon – As part of the Juan Tabo Hills Park Project the city has been working on getting two slides built into the landscape. The first slide is now complete, the second slide should be completed in the next few months.
[5] CABQ and Goodwill provide resources for guests at Gateway West Shelter – A resource fair hosted by the city and Goodwill brought more than 30 service providers to Gateway West. Those resources include medical services from the department of health and presbyterian, educational opportunities with CNM and range of employment opportunities.
