[1] Santa Fe residents on edge after 83-year-old man shot and killed outside Best Buy – Some Santa Fe residents are on edge and concerned about violent crime in the area. Santa Fe Police are still searching for a gunman who shot and killed 83-year-old Gordon Wilson at the Best Buy on Zafarano near Cerrillos. Investigators say the suspect stole Wilson’s Jeep Grand Cherokee. Police say the gunman is a Hispanic male with tattoos and a goatee. This comes after a July shooting where a man was shot in the head while working at a Sonic Drive-In.

[2] Solar factory expected to bring more than 900 jobs to Albuquerque – Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced that ebon Solar will build its new manufacturing facility in Albuquerque’s Mesa Del Sol Community. The facility will cost more than $900 million and could bring 900 jobs to the area. This comes about a year after Maxeon Solar Technologies announced they were picking Mesa Del Sol for their facility. Groundbreaking for both companies is likely to happen later this year.

[3] Rainier, cooler temperatures & humid weather for New Mexico – As temperatures across the region rise once again from the morning school commute into the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and at least above 100 degrees for a few areas by the afternoon, even more moisture in the air, along with the ample amount of daytime heating, will lead to the likelihood of rainfall for some. The north-central mountains once again have the best chance of rain for today with burn-scar flash flooding more likely in the Hermits Peak & Calf Canyon area

[4] Report: Nearly 60% of NM college students facing food insecurity – A new report from UNM is shedding light on the issue of food insecurity among college students. Nearly 15,000 people across 27 higher education schools took part in the survey. The study revealed that 58% of college students face food insecurity and the stats for minority groups is higher. The study also found that 62% of students were facing housing insecurity.  Researchers are working on a new study about basic needs among faculty and staff in higher education.

[5] Advertising once again allowed on Albuquerque city buses – City council passed rules last year prohibiting wraps on buses in order to give them a uniform appearance. Just eight months later the new council has reversed course, reinstating advertising on bus exteriors. There will be certain restrictions, such as those ads can’t cover the busses windows. Revenue from the ads will go to the transit department.
