Netflix’s Man on Fire series has added Scoot McNairy and two more to the cast.
In 2023 it was announced that Netflix had ordered a straight-to-series of the 1980 Man on Fire novel, which was written by A. J. Quinnell. The novel was previously adapted into a 2004 feature film directed by Tony Scott that starred Denzel Washington.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was tapped to lead the series earlier this year. Bobby Cannavale and Billie Boullet will also star in the show.
Now, per The Hollywood Reporter, the Man on Fire series has added Scoot McNairy, Alice Braga, and Paul Ben-Victor to the series.
McNairy recently starred in the 2024 remake of Speak No Evil. He’s been in movies such as 2012’s Argo, 2013’s 12 Years a Slave, 2014’s Gone Girl, 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, 2020’s A Quiet Place Part II, while he’ll soon be seen in Nightbitch and A Complete Unknown, both of which will be released later this year.
Braga previously starred in 2002’s City of God, 2007’s I Am Legend, 2010’s Predators, 2013’s Elysium, 2020’s The New Mutants, and 2021’s The Suicide Squad. She’s also known for playing Sian in A Murder at the End of the World and Amanda in Dark Matter.
Ben-Victor played Spiros ‘Vondas’ Vondopoulos in The Wire and Alan Gray in Entourage. His filmography includes titles such as 1991’s Body Parts, 1993’s Tombstone, 2003’s Daredevil, 2013’s Don Jon, 2019’s The Irishman, and more.
What else do we know about Netflix’s Man on Fire series?
The series “centers on John Creasy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a former special forces mercenary now suffering intense PTSD,” per The Hollywood Reporter’s description. “Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.”
Braga is playing a professional driver named Valeria Melo in Man on Fire, while McNairy is playing a field agent named Henry Tappan and Ben-Victor is playing CIA director Moncrief. The eight-episode show comes from showrunner Kyle Killen.
A premiere date for Man on Fire has not yet been announced by Netflix.
