TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA/NEXSTAR) – You’ve already been looking forward to Friday, and now there’s an extra sweet way to finish off the week.
In honor of National Doughnut Day (celebrated on the first Friday in June), doughnut shops across the nation are offering free treats with qualifying purchases — or no purchases at all, in some cases.

The first National Doughnut Day was celebrated in 1938. Organized by the Salvation Army as a fundraiser amid the Great Depression, the event was also meant to honor the “Donut Lassies” who traveled overseas during WWI to provide support for the troops, sometimes by frying up doughnuts on the front lines.
Today, the Salvation Army still encourages its supporters to treat themselves to a doughnut in early June. And who are you to refuse?

Duck Donuts
Duck Donuts is offering a free cinnamon sugar doughnut for guests who stop by any of the company’s locations. No purchase is necessary, but the deal is available in-store guests only.
Dunkin’
Dunkin’ fans can redeem a free classic doughnut — any classic doughnut they like — with the purchase of any beverage on Friday.
Krispy Kreme
Guests at participating Krispy Kreme locations can pick out a free doughnut of their choosing (with the exception of specialty or limited-time doughnuts) on Friday, no purchase necessary. The offer is limited to in-store or drive-thru guests only.
In addition, Krispy Kreme customers can purchase an Original Glazed dozen for just $2 with the purchase of any other dozen, according to the company.
Sheetz
Sheetz customers who purchase any ready-to-drink coffee or Sheetz Bros coffee can get a doughnut (any flavor) for free. Customers, however, must first add the promotion under the OFFERZ tab on their Sheetz app.
The offer is also available through Sunday, for any guests who can’t make it to a Sheetz location by National Doughnut Day.
Shipley Do-Nuts
On Friday, guests at participating Shipley Do-Nuts can earn themselves a free signature glazed doughnut with the purchase of any other item. When ordering online, customers are instructed to use the code DONUTDAY24 to redeem the deal.
Tim Hortons
Fans of Tim Hortons who purchase a beverage via their Tim Hortons App can earn a free doughnut at participating U.S. shops on Friday. The promotion must be activated prior to purchase, and the purchase must be made through the Tim Hortons App, or via the chain’s official website. See the offer page for additional restrictions.
