NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A strong area of high pressure has been building over the state this weekend. This has brought near-record to record-breaking temperatures this afternoon. Drier air has been moving into the state as well, with a few strong showers and storms across eastern parts of New Mexico this afternoon.

The near-record and record-breaking heat will continue Monday. High temperatures will be a couple of degrees cooler on Tuesday and Wednesday. But this will be short-lived before they climb again on Wednesday and Thursday. Dry air will continue with very little to no chances for rain into the end of the week.
