New Mexico gas prices relatively low as summer travel begins

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – As New Mexicans prepare for summer travel, drivers are seeing good news at the pump. Gas prices are relatively low thanks to a growing nationwide oil supply, according to AAA New Mexico.

“New Mexicans are paying less for gasoline so far this summer when compared to last year,” AAA New Mexico spokesperson Daniel Armbruster said in a press release. “Supply builds of crude oil and gasoline are helping to keep retail fuel prices in check as many hit the road for summer vacations.”

New Mexico is one of the states with current retail prices on the low end of the spectrum. Residents in Arizona, Colorado, and Utah are paying more than New Mexicans, on average. Texas residents, however, are currently enjoying an average price of $3.028 per gallon of unleaded, AAA says.

The nationwide average for unleaded is currently $3.20, AAA says. That is also lower than the nationwide average this time last year.
