Post Malone is continuing his ostensible Hollywood career, this time appearing in the trailer for the upcoming Jack Black film, Dear Satan.
The new film, which is scheduled to arrive one month shy of Christmas, on November 25th, features a child named Liam mis-addressing a letter to Santa, instead finding it in the hands of Satan, played by Black.
Instead of fulfilling his Christmas wish list, Black instead grants the child three wishes, with one of them being to go backstage at a Post Malone gig.
The trailer sees Post Malone sharing a stage with Black, whose trademark subtle acting style is on full display throughout.
The film also stars Keegan-Michael Key and Brianne Howey, and comes via the pairing of Bobby and Peter Farrelly.
The film is the latest that features Post Malone this year, who also appeared under his birth name of Austin Post in Doug Liman’s remake of Road House, and under his musical moniker in This Is Me… Now: A Love Story, the visual accompaniment to Jennifer Lopez’s latest record.
He’s also appeared as a voice actor in the Spider-Man films and last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem along with a handful of other cameo roles.
For Black, it’s the latest in a year of big-name films, including Kung Fu Panda 4 and the adaptation of Borderlands. In mid-July, Black made headlines after Tenacious D cancelled the remainder of their Australian tour after bandmate Kyle Gass made a joke about Donald Trump’s assasination attempt.
Black later confirmed the group hadn’t broken up, insisting they’ll return in due course, though offered no indication as to when that could be.
“Everybody needs a break sometime[s]. And we’ll be back,” he explained. “I love Tenacious D. It’s probably my favorite job, if you can call it that. It’s a work of art, it’s my baby.”
