Sabrina Carpenter has been accused of copying a French magazine for the artwork of her new album without giving the publication credit.

Yesterday (June 3), the ‘Nonsense’ singer took to her official social media accounts to share that her sixth studio album titled ‘Short N’ Sweet’ is set for release on August 23 via Island Records and can be pre-ordered / pre-saved here.
She also shared the album cover which features a photo of her in front of a royal blue backdrop looking over her shoulder which has a lipstick kiss stain. Now, X/Twitter users have commented on how Carpenter’s album cover resembles a Cosmopolitan France spread from 2015.
French model Tiffany Collier – who posed in the shoot – shared a photo of the spread back in 2018 in which she is also looking over her bare shoulder with the same lipstick kiss stamp. The caption of the post read: “Happy Valentine’s Day,” and saw photographer Bruno Juminer tagged in the post as the photographer of the shoot.

One Instagram user commented on Collier’s post writing: “sabrina carpenter ripped off this photo for her album cover,” with another sharing: “ME ESPRESSO”.
X/Twitter users also commented Carpenter’s the alleged copying of the shoot with one tweeting “Oh sabrina be original challenge” and another adding: “Sabrina copynta”.
Some fans are upset at the fact that the singer did not give credit to the original photo. One user tweeted: ” The problem isn’t that Sabrina took inspo from some french Cosmo shoot (that’s normal), the problem is it lacks all the emotion of the original.”
They continued: “The girl on the left actually looks outside—shadows off her bangs, sultry squint, sunkissed. Sabrina is serving ig face in a studio!” Check out more replies below:

Many of Carpenter’s fans came to the singer’s defence with one tweeting: “Her new era is inspired by a retro summer aesthetic and that’s inspiration from that time and era she never claimed to have been the original creator of that photo.”
Another fan wrote: “It’s complicated but legally it’s just inspiration cause anyone can do this. But if she were to take the original and just put it as her cover then that’d be considered stolen.”

Along with the album announcement, Carpenter also shared that a surprise is coming on Thursday (June 6) for which fans should “keep an eye out!!”.
Recently, the singer responded to the BBC after she was allegedly told to keep her performance “PG” at their Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2024 festival, which took place on Sunday (May 26) at Stockwood Park, Luton.
During the outro of her single ‘Nonsense’, Carpenter adlibbed by mentioning BBC by name: “BBC said I should keep it PG / BBC I wish I had it in me”, during which she gestured with her hand before singing “There’s a double meaning if you dig deep” and blowing a kiss to the crowd.
During the intro of her performance, she thanked fans for keeping her smash hit ‘Espresso’ atop the UK Singles Chart, where it has stayed at Number One for an entire month. Last week (May 24), it remained in its position and beat Billie Eilish’s ‘LUNCH’.
“What the hell was that about, you guys?” she said in a tongue-in-cheek intro. “I was really concerned because I was like, ‘Surely the UK only drinks tea. They would never drink Espresso.’”
Elsewhere Carpenter joined Coldplay in a duet of the band’s song ‘Magic’. Prior to that performance, Chris Martin sang “that’s that me espresso” at the end of Coldplay’s hit ‘Fix You’ in reference to Carpenter’s single.
‘Espresso’ has also gained a fan in Adele, who hailed it as “my jam” and that she found herself singing the song while getting into bed. Carpenter responded with a tweet: “All i read was Adele thinks about me in bed <3.”
