Sarah Jessica Parker hints at ‘Sex and the City’ comeback

(NewsNation) — Could Carrie Bradshaw be making another comeback following the “And Just Like That…” cancellation? Maybe, Sarah Jessica Parker teased.

Parker, who served as an executive producer on the “Sex and the City” revival, said that the franchise may just be on a hiatus, she told “CBS Morning” Ed Wood.

She told Wood it was a “very difficult decision” to walk away from the show but that her character could return one day.

“I’m not certain I understand what that decision means, because I could just be on hiatus,” she said.

The actress said she and Michael Patrick King, who was the showrunner on both shows, talked about the show’s cancellation.

“I think it’s out of respect for this really singular professional experience that you have to consider what you want to do, have you done it, and sometimes it’s best to gracefully walk away when things feel really right and energetic, versus squeezing and exploiting people’s generosity and hospitality,” she said.

Michael Patrick King, Sarah Jessica Parker: We decided to end ‘AJLT’

In August, King and Parker announced the third season of “And Just Like That…” would be its last.

“And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of the ‘Sex and the City’ universe is coming to an end. While I was writing the last episode of ‘And Just Like That’… season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop,” he said on Instagram at the time.

King added, “Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12.”

Dwindling ratings for ‘And Just Like That…’

However, according to NewsNation’s Paula Froelich, the show was canceled because of low ratings.

The first season of the “Sex and the City” spin-off averaged 1.1 million viewers, with the following seasons coming in with fewer viewers. Season 2 is averaging 463,000 viewers, and Season 3 is averaging 429,000.
