NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The strongest storm system of the season has now entirely moved to the northeast of The Great Lakes region as much more pleasant weather is ahead in our region with more snow-melt on this Veterans Day. Along with only some high-altitude thin decks of clouds, drier air, and lighter winds, radiational cooling has taken place this morning, as temperatures are ranging from near the high single digits to the low 40s across New Mexico, slightly warmer compared to yesterday morning for most because of a warmer air-mass inbound.
The still strong upper-level low pressure system is spinning now northeast of The Great Lakes, leaving behind a trail of a little bit of lingering low-level moisture in The Land of Enchantment, but with much drier air aloft mostly. Very clear skies will ensue for most of the day and as temperatures will rise, southwesterly winds will pick up a little bit, drying out the atmosphere even more.
From the morning school commute on into the afternoon, temperatures will eventually reach into the upper 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and low-to-mid 70s, close to normal for this time of the year, allowing for even more snowmelt in the mountains, especially in the surrounding lower-elevation communities.
As the trough of low pressure continues to depart well away to the northeast with moisture well to the northeast of The Land of Enchantment, precipitation will be not be the big story at all as with the more pleasant weather ahead, despite a brief cooldown for northwestern areas tomorrow with a weak low pressure system moving through to the north, temperatures will mostly be on the climb until a bigger change ensues later this weekend.
