State charges dropped against suspect in Clovis murders

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Prosecutors have paused its case against the man accused of murdering two women in a park and taking a child from one of them.

Authorities claimed Alek Collins shot and killed Samantha Cisneros and Taryn Allen at Ned Houk Park in Clovis last month.

He is also accused of wounding a 5-year-old and kidnapping a baby, taking her to Texas. Collins is facing federal charges for the kidnapping.

With that case pending, prosecutors in Curry County have dismissed the state murder charges without prejudice, meaning they can be brought back.
