HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) – Hobbs police are asking the public for help in tracking down the suspect of a deadly shooting. Officers were called to the area of East Lincoln Road and Dal Paso to reports of shots fired.
They located two gunshot victims; one was transported to the hospital and has since been released, and the second was identified as 19-year-old Ismael Rios. He was declared dead on the scene.
Investigators identified the suspect as 20-year-old Michael Alonzo Wynne Garcia. Police found him a few blocks away, but he fled the scene and remains at large.
Garcia has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated battery, and aggravated fleeing an officer. He was last seen in a red Toyota Camry with the license plate TYL7444.
