SAN JUAN COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) — A man and a woman were killed in an officer-involved shooting with U.S. Marshalls in San Juan County on Wednesday. According to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, 37-year-old Brandon Roe and 25-year-old Breanna Wilkerson were both pronounced dead after shots were fired by U.S. Marshals during an attempted arrest.
Detectives with SJCSO were helping U.S. Marshals Service find Roe, who had warrants out for his arrest. At about 6 p.m., law enforcement tried to take Roe into custody at a home in the 4000 block of Copper Avenue. Witness statements say he was in the passenger seat of a vehicle being driven by a woman. According to those witnesses, the vehicle moved towards law enforcement officers while Roe tried to climb into the driver’s seat.
Shots were fired by U.S. marshals, SJCSO confirms. Roe and Wilkerson were pronounced dead on the scene. No law enforcement officers were injured.
