Victor Vevera, ICI Bucharest: “Jobs that require a high level of creativity will not be replaced by AI”

RMAG news

“The acts governing the GDPR are mandatory for all sectors and everything that is developed in the EU regarding artificial intelligence must comply with the GDPR. Technology is making rapid strides; it is developing a lot. There are discussions about European regulations that would create the framework for AI to develop,” Victor Vevera, General Director, ICI Bucharest said at Workplace of the Future conference organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.

Key statements:

  • In the Middle East, there are a lot of good specialists in the area of new technologies. A lot of investments are being made in that area, and for collaboration with the EU it is clear that they will respect the procedures and regulations in force. AI is ultimately a tool that we use to improve our activity, to make our lives easier, to make us more efficient.
  • AI cannot replace programmers at the moment, but it replaces the area of automation, robots, the basic programming part. But to develop real applications you need system architects, software developers and people with creativity. We must be aware that the EU can impose regulations, but other regions and continents can develop without being obliged to comply with them.
  • AI is developing all over the world, even in areas that are not related to democracy or respect for human rights, that are not related to the EU GDPR.
  • Europe must be prepared to develop technology that counters AI used for negative purposes, such as deep fakes, data exfiltration, fraud.
  • The moment you make a decision, including life and death, for an application, we are talking about the ethical use of artificial intelligence. A decision made without human support, without a human filter, can lead to conflicts that can harm life.
  • The creativity part cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence at this time, and jobs that require a high level of creativity will not disappear.
