A witness was shaken after seeing a man get hit by a motorcycle on Central Ave. late last month. Surveillance video showed a white motorcycle, driven by off-duty Albuquerque Police Department Officer Ezekiel Florez, with another off-duty officer riding with him on Central Ave.
Before the crash, video showed a car pulling up to the intersection. The driver of that car told police the motorcycle was out of control. The witness told police that the motorcycle didn’t stop to check on the man.
Florez told detectives that the man was running, and he wasn’t able to get out of the way. But then he said he didn’t want to talk about the crash without his lawyer present.
Florez is facing a charge for leaving the scene of an accident. Right now, the other officer isn’t facing any charges. APD said the victim is still in a coma.
