Warm and dry weekend ahead

Isolated storms return to New Mexico today in the Northern Mountains. Potentially record breaking heat continues across the state.

A weak backdoor cold front is moving through New Mexico today. While it might not be cooling off temperatures for most of the state, it is bringing isolated storms to the Northern Mountains. These storms can be expected later in the afternoon. They will last into the evening. However, there are also expected to be dry storms. This means the rain will likely evaporate before it hits the ground. This evaporation is caused by dry air at the surface. The storms will lessen even more on Saturday before completely clearing out on Sunday.

Record breaking temperatures continue across New Mexico again today. The cold front moving through will slightly lower temperatures for Saturday. Temperatures will heat back up once again on Sunday and Monday. Another backdoor cold front on Tuesday will cool temperatures off once again in time for the start of October.
