The Western Australian Music (WAM) November Sound Series is in full swing, bringing together music lovers and industry professionals for a month of workshops and interactive sessions.

Highlights include songwriting sessions, networking events, and workshops tailored to budding and established artists.

On Tuesday, November 12, join Song of the Year nominee Codee-Lee at Nabo in Mandurah for a hands-on songwriting workshop. Hosted in collaboration with Chop Street Music and Act Belong Commit, this free event offers insights into songwriting and includes an acoustic performance. Registration is required due to limited spots.

Embedded Content For those interested in music industry grants, musician Tanya Ransom will share her expertise in a grant-writing workshop on November 24 at the Cannery Arts Centre. Sponsored by Balmy Nights Festival and APRA AMCOS, this free, all-ages event requires no registration.

On November 25, the Rosemount Main Hall hosts “Meet the Bookers,” a roundtable for musicians to connect with industry leaders like Sinead O’Hara, Hayley Ayres, Emma Adams, and Joshua Sweetman. This ticketed event provides an opportunity for artists to engage directly with booking agents, programmers, and managers. Tickets are $10 online or $15 at the door, with free admission for WAM members.

Concluding the series, Finn Pearson will host a songwriting session on November 30 at Dandalup Murray House, also featuring a live performance. This event, too, is free, but registration is required.

November Sound Sessions follows up a big year of events for WAM, with intensive songwriting courses getting a boost through the esteemed ‘Song of The Year’ contest and one-off ‘Crap Song Club’ and ‘Welcome To Breathe’ events. It brings a new air of creativity to the region, allowing a springboard for WA talent to thrive in the national market.

Registration for this month’s events is available via the WAM website.
