  • October 31-November 8 Little Shop of Horrors – Get ready for a wildly entertaining romp in Little Shop of Horrors, the cult classic musical where doo-wop meets dark comedy. When meek and shy florist Seymour discovers an exotic and mysterious plant with a taste for more than just sunlight, he finds a way to get the fame and fortune he has always desired – but at a steep and deadly cost. With toe-tapping tunes, quirky characters, and twisted humor, this strange and hilarious tale is presented by the UNM Department of Theatre and Dance. Tickets and showtimes are available online.
  • November 1 Howl-a-Day of the Dog – This is a family-friendly event that will include a pet parade as well as a pet costume contest that will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes. The event will be at the Albuquerque Rail Trail in the Sawmill District at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Participation is free.
  • November 1 Día de Familia: Día de los Muertos – Join the National Hispanic Cultural Center for a special day for the whole family commemorating Día de los Muertos traditions. Contribute to the community ofrenda and view ofrendas created by local schools and community organizations. Decorate sugar skulls, craft paper flowers, enjoy face-painting, and sample Pan de Muerte. Visitors can also enjoy food from local food trucks. The event starts at 11 a.m.
  • November 1 Scandinavian Festival – Visit St John’s United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and enjoy Scandinavian food, folk art, live entertainment, and more. Admission and parking are free.
  • November 1 Downtown Growers’ Market – Browse local goods from Albuquerque’s micro-business community, including bakeries, packaged foods and beverages, hot prepared foods on site, and hand-made art, crafts, and body care products. Enjoy live music from a local band starting at 10 a.m., donation-based yoga at 8 a.m., and a variety of other community-minded programming, informational booths, services, and events.
  • November 1-2 Expo New Mexico Flea Market – Come check out the food, vendors, and live entertainment at New Mexico’s largest open-air market. The market is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and tickets are $2 for walk-ups and $10 per car for parking.
  • November 2 Albuquerque Running Fiesta – Get ready for an epic race weekend filled with running, celebration, and unforgettable moments. Race, cheer, or just soak in the excitement; there’s something for everyone. The marathon starts at 7:15 a.m., the half-marathon at 8, and the 5k at 9. All courses are fast and flat.

  • October 31 Trunk or Treat: Las Cruces – Join Las Cruces for this free community event where families can trick or treat in a safe and kid-friendly space. There will be treats, music, hot dogs, and lots of opportunities for photos, including a photo booth. This event is from 4 to 8 p.m.
  • October 31 Halloween Ballroom Dance and Costume Contest: Silver City – Visit the Murray Hotel and wear a costume. Enjoy live music and a cash bar. All attendees must be 21+ and tickets are $20. The event is from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • October 31-November 1 Día de Los Muertos Festival: Santa Fe – The Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe is once again transforming the historic Plaza into a sea of marigolds, music, mojigangas, and community remembrance. Enjoy a kids’ Zozobra costume contest, live music, ofrendas, arts and crafts, and food vendors.
  • November 1 Booze, Boos & Tattoos: Carlsbad – Starting at 5 p.m., enjoy live tattooing from a guest artist offering flash tattoos, as well as a costume contest, live music, food trucks, and specialty brews and cocktails. Admission is free, and flash tattoos and drinks are sold separately.
  • November 1 Día de los Muertos Fall Festival: Roswell – From 4 to 11 p.m., enjoy food trucks, live music, a haunted house, and a kids’ costume contest. Bring friends and family for a night full of fun and tradition.
  • November 1 Day of the Dead/Halloween Bash: Alamogordo – Come out and enjoy a night filled with culture and entertainment. Expect music, food trucks, vendors, ofrendas, luminaries, face paint, gift basket drawings, and more from 6 p.m. to midnight. All ages are welcome.
  • November 1 Día de los Perros y Gatos Pet Fiesta & Adopt-a-thon: Rio Rancho – Cabezon Park will be transformed into a beautiful ofrenda space, filled with traditional Dia de Los Muertos symbols and decor. Community members and the shelter staff can adorn the ofrenda with photos of departed pets, mementos, toys, and treats as the altar grows throughout the day. Visitors can also enjoy a pet-friendly vendor market. This event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • November 1-2 A Christmas Affair: Ruidoso – Enjoy crafts, gifts, and food vendors. There will be a kids’ corner with crafts, and pictures and story time with Santa. Adults are $3, and kids under 10 are free.
  • November 1-2 Bubble Heart Soap Co. and Lil’ C’s Fall Festival: Raton – Celebrate the season with local vendors, delicious food trucks, crafts, music, and plenty of family-friendly activities. From handmade gifts and fall treats to games, face painting, and more — there’s something for everyone to enjoy. This event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free.

🔶Albuquerque City Clerk’s Office says they forgot to include a measure on this year’s ballot – Albuquerque voters are facing a slightly shorter ballot this election, but not on purpose. The Albuquerque City Clerk admitted that one measure that should have been there never made the ballot. That ballot measure is meant to change restrictions on how much the city can spend on a performing arts center downtown, but after it was accidentally left off the ballot, the city is now trying to figure out when voters will have a say.

🔶New Mexico Gov. says state will provide $30M to replace suspended SNAP benefits – The State of New Mexico will spend $30 million to make sure the nearly half a million New Mexicans on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits have money in their accounts on Monday. This comes amid the ongoing federal government shutdown, which will have SNAP benefits suspended come Monday. With 21% of New Mexico relying on those benefits, the state is now stepping in to avoid that cliff fall.

🔶How a New Mexico Tech professor invented nicotine patches by accident — A New Mexico Tech professor says he vomited for hours when he spilled liquid nicotine on himself back in the 70s. And when he replicated the experience – twice, just to be sure — he nearly died. But through the sickness, he was able to confirm that nicotine can be absorbed through the skin. And with that discovery, he went on to create a life-saver for smokers trying to kick the habit.

🔶Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office extends pilot schedule program – The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office is once again extending its pilot program that revamped the schedule format for deputies.

🔶Santa Fe County Clerk encouraging voters to drop off absentee ballots – With Election Day quickly approaching, the Santa Fe County Clerk’s Office is reminding voters that absentee ballots must be received by the clerk’s office no later than 7 p.m. on election night, Tuesday, November 4. The office encouraged voters not to mail ballots any longer, but instead to drop their ballot in a drop box. 

🔶New Mexico Department of Health gives tips to stay safe on Halloween – The New Mexico Department of Health is encouraging residents to stay safe while trick-or-treating this year. To help keep everyone safe, NMDOH is releasing some tips to follow on Halloween night.

🔶New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department warns against mail scam – The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department issued a warning about a mail scam alleging that property may be seized if overdue debt is not paid.

🔶LIST: Food banks, pantries in New Mexico – Approximately 460,000 residents in New Mexico use the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to put food on their tables, and in November, those benefits will not be paid due to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s decision not to allocate more funding to the program while the federal government shutdown continues.
