In a few months, WWE RAW will make its highly anticipated move from television to the streaming platform Netflix. Ahead of this major transition, WWE recently announced a significant change in RAW’s runtime.

The promotion shared that starting October 7, WWE RAW will switch to a two-hour format. This new format will continue weekly until the final episode airs on the USA Network on December 30, 2024, before WWE RAW moves to Netflix in January 2025.

As this move approaches, fans are curious whether WWE plans to introduce edgier content in the new format. In recent months, WWE has shifted towards more adult-oriented programming. They have showcased moments like The Rock swerving on live TV and incorporating blood into its shows. WWE Superstar CM Punk does not believe fans should expect a major change in the programming after the move to Netflix.

CM Punk weighs in on edgier content expectations for WWE RAW on Netflix

WWE Superstar CM Punk recently appeared on KISS FM 103.5 in Chicago, where he discussed the upcoming move to Netflix. He mentioned that fans shouldn’t expect significant changes from the current format. He noted that WWE has been gradually pushing boundaries.

He stated, “I don’t think you’re gonna see much difference than what it is now. I think we’re pushing boundaries a little bit here and there. I just kinda wanna temper people’s expectations because I think there’s a section of the fanbase that’s like, ‘Oh they’re going to Netflix, there’s gonna be full-frontal and swearing’ – that’s absolutely not the case.”

He continued, “I think what you’re gonna see in difference of what the product is now is I think we’re gonna maybe… I think there’s still gonna be commercials on Netflix, I’m not 100% sure about that, but we might be able to fudge it so it’s not during matches. So you’re gonna see maybe some play with the format of the show. But I’m not 100% sure on all that. But content-wise, I don’t think you’re gonna see… as much as Rhea Ripley wants to come out there and talk like an Aussie and drop a c-word here and there, I don’t think you’re gonna see that.”

With the Netflix move happening in just a few months. It will be interesting to see what approach WWE takes with their content. The show is also expected to include commercials on Netflix.
