According to a study by Undelucram.ro, around 41% of HR specialists in Romania support the use of Artificial Intelligence tools to make employees’ work easier and save time. In comparison, 35% of HR specialists in Greece, approximately 40% in Bulgaria and Hungary, and only 7% in Moldova share this view.
The Undelucram.ro survey was conducted from May 15 to June 5 this year, gathering responses from 5,250 HR specialists. Of these, 80% are from companies with over 100 employees across Romania, Moldova, Hungary, Greece, and Bulgaria. Respondents represent sectors including automotive, banking/insurance/pensions/financial services, IT&C, BPO & services, construction & real estate, education, pharma, HoReCa, consumer goods manufacturing, industrial production, retail, medical services, scientific/technical services, and transport/logistics services.
Bulgaria and Hungary Are the Strongest Supporters of AI Use. Moldova, the Least
Approximately 55% of HR specialists in Romania support the use of Artificial Intelligence in the companies they represent, with the highest percentages in Bulgaria (69%) and Hungary (62%). Conversely, the figures drop to 41% in Greece and 32% in Moldova.
Around 18% of HR experts in Romania do not support using AI tools, and 27% do not have a clear position on this issue. Moldova has the lowest percentage of HR professionals who support using Artificial Intelligence, with 38% of respondents saying that the organization they represent does not promote this practice. On the other hand, Greece has the highest percentage of HR specialists who are undecided about whether to promote the use of AI tools among employees.
7% of HR Specialists in Romania Support AI Tools to Streamline Recruitment Volumes
The main reasons HR experts in Romania support AI tools are: simplifying employees’ work and saving time (41%), automating certain tasks so that suppliers are no longer needed (31%), and reducing recruitment volumes in the organization (7%). This order is also maintained in the other four countries in the region.
Over 40% of Respondents in Romania Say Employees Use AI Tools. More than a Third Do Not Know if Employees Use AI Solutions
Regarding the use of AI solutions by employees, 41% of HR specialists in companies in Romania report that employees use such solutions, with percentages of 64% in Hungary, 58% in Bulgaria, 43% in Greece, and 21% in Moldova.
The highest percentage of non-use of AI tools is recorded in Moldova (63%), and the highest rate of HR specialists who do not know if employees use AI is in Greece (38%).
36% of HR Experts Want to Organize AI Training. In Hungary, the Percentage Is Double
Although the percentage of Romanian employees who use tools like ChatGPT or Character.AI is high (40%), only 36% of HR experts have considered organizing training so that employees can maximize the potential of these tools. In Greece and Bulgaria, the percentages are similar (33% and 34%, respectively), while in Hungary, the percentage is double (73%). In Moldova, only 22% of employers have considered training employees to use AI.
Using AI in Personal Life, Three Times Higher Than at Work. Most Used AI Tools by HR Specialists
Regarding their use of Artificial Intelligence, 23% of HR experts in Romania say they use AI tools, with figures of 33% in Hungary, 22% in Greece, 20% in Bulgaria, and 9% in Moldova.
However, the percentages increase significantly concerning the use of Artificial Intelligence in personal life: 68% of HR specialists in Romania use such solutions outside of work, 71% in Hungary, 43% in Greece, 58% in Bulgaria, and 24% in Moldova.
The most used AI tools by HR experts in Romania are: ChatGPT (58%), HR-specific applications (11%), internally developed solutions covering multiple requirements (11%), QuillBot (8.2%), Character.AI (6.7%), Midjourney (5.7%), others (6%).
ChatGPT is the most used application in Bulgaria and Moldova (83% and 81%, respectively). Additionally, HR-specific applications are most used in Hungary (41%) and Greece (18%).
“In the past two years, with the advent of ChatGPT, there has been a lot of talk about the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the labor market. However, our study shows that HR specialists do not use Artificial Intelligence enough in their activities, that the tools used are not maximized due to the lack of training, and that many organizations do not have a concrete plan to optimize work with such solutions. Thus, we hope to see more actions from companies in this regard soon,” said Costin Tudor, CEO of Undelucram.ro, part of the WhereWeWork network.
