15 people displaced in hotel fire in Alamogordo

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — About 15 people were displaced after a fire at a hotel in Alamogordo, New Mexico, over the weekend, the Alamogordo Fire Department said in a news release.

The fire happened a little after 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 14 at 2404 N. White Sands Boulevard.

Thirteen rooms within the hotel were damaged and the building suffered significant structural damage, according to the Alamogordo Fire Department.

There were no reported injuries associated with this fire.

The people displaced in the fire were all long-term residents of the hotel, according to the Alamogordo Fire Department.

“Teamwork between Alamogordo Police Department, Alamogordo Fire Department, American Red Cross and Mountain View Church ensured all affected parties were provided lodging, food and assistance to ensure they had safe lodging for the weekend,” the news release said.

The AFD Fire Investigations Unit, Alamogordo Code Enforcement Division, New Mexico State Fire Marshals Investigation Division and the Alamogordo Police Detectives Division are conducting a joint investigation into the cause of the fire.

Otero County Emergency Services and the Holloman Fire Department also responded to the incident.

No adjacent buildings or powerlines were damaged, according to the Alamogordo Fire Department.
