ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Bernalillo County is helping residents learn how to protect themselves with karate techniques from Japan’s southern islands. The county is partnering with Shorin Ryu Karate for self-defense classes every Monday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Vista Grande Community Center in Sandia Park.
The classes are open to high school students and up. The county said participants will learn traditional Okinawan techniques designed for real-world situations
