New travel trends: Romanians Seek Less Crowded, Affordable Destinations Within 2-Hour Flight

Lesbos (Greece), Skiathos (Greece) and Ischia (Italy) are among the most sought-after summer holiday destinations by those who want a holiday as a couple, with friends or with family.

The island of Lesbos is the revelation of summer 2024 as it offers stays at up to 20% lower rates than similar packages on other Greek islands, together with all the ingredients of a successful holiday: quality beaches, great food from local organic products at low prices, establishments of comfortable accommodation, varied activities and relaxed atmosphere, like in Greece.

Lesbos is synonymous with relaxation, reconnecting with nature and life’s simple pleasures, whether it’s a delicious meal, a swim in the warm and clean sea or a spectacular sunset.

Tourists are interested in stays that give them more precise cost control and great value for money, without compromising on any of the elements that make a truly enjoyable holiday with family or friends.

That is why more and more tourists choose special offers in destinations that allow a correct anticipation of the necessary holiday budget, being interested in all the financial aspects of the stay: how much does a meal at a tavern or restaurant cost, what are the tourist attractions, what types of activities are available and what are the rates for renting a car.

“Romanians still want to enjoy at least one vacation per summer, but they analyze more carefully everything related to costs because they want to have stricter control over them. Thus, they focus on stays at more affordable costs and, if possible, in destinations they have not been to before, which are not very crowded and which offer them all the ingredients for a successful vacation.

That is exactly why, analyzing the available options, we have introduced in 2024 charter flights holidays to Lesbos, the third largest island in Greece. Here, 7-night stays with charter flight, transfers and tourist assistance start from 289 euros / person in a villa without meals, respectively 599 euros / person in a newly renovated 4-star hotel, with breakfast included.

The costs at the destination for a lunch at a tavern or for an optional excursion are affordable, many times lower than in Romania. That’s why, for many Romanians, the island of Lesbos is the right choice for their summer vacation in 2024, especially since Greece is a country that we are familiar with and that we like, and the flight to get there takes only one hour and 20 minutes”, says Antonio Nițu, General Manager of the Aerotravel group.

Meal costs in Lesbos are comparable to those in the country, being lower than in other foreign destinations. A Greek salad costs 7 – 8 euros, a portion of sardines, for which the island is famous, is 8 – 12 euros, and a grilled squid or octopus costs between 12 and 15 euros. Side dishes cost between 3 and 7 euros (salads, rice, fries) and are substantial. All dishes are made from fresh and tasty ingredients, just like at home, grown or fished locally.

A water (0.5 – 2 euros), a soft drink (2 – 4 euros), a beer (3 – 5 euros), a small carafe of wine (6 euros) or an ouzo, the pride of the island, can be added to the meal Lesbos (6 euros for two people). In Lesbos sunbeds and umbrellas are free, in exchange for a minimum consumption from the bar, i.e. a coffee (2.5 – 5 euros), a beer (3.5 – 5 euro) or a cocktail (10 – 15 euro).

To explore the island, a car can be rented with rates starting at 29 euros for a single day or 173 euros for 7 days. Thus, some fascinating sights on the island can be visited, such as the Natural History Museum of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos, the Ouzo Museum (The World of Ouzo) or the Molyvos castle.

Charter flights from Bucharest to the destination are operated by the TAROM company, on Fridays, all summer until September 6, 2024, and last one hour and 20 minutes.

The island of Lesvos is appreciated by couples who work in a stressful environment and want to escape from the daily routine, to disconnect and relax on uncrowded beaches with very good music at a reasonable volume, to have a delicious meal from 100% natural and fresh products, to visit unique, unique places in the world, such as the Petrified Forest, or to observe wildlife, such as flocks of flamingo birds.

Skiathos Island is the perfect choice for those who want to enjoy countless Blue Flag beaches with fine sand and smooth entrance to the sea, cosmopolitan atmosphere and cuisine from the entire Mediterranean area, quality services and comfort. It is a destination with options for all budgets, from tourist villas – for those who are ok with simple and quality facilities, to 5-star hotels with private pools – for those who appreciate pampering, couples or families with children alike.

Ischia is the island of those who are passionate about the south of Italy, who are in love with nature and water in all its variations – from the sea to the thermal springs, who are faithful to Italian gastronomy in all its delicious incarnations and who know that beyond the narrow streets and often crowded, they will always find a garden or a beach where they will be reunited with the warm and relaxed atmosphere typical of the area.
