8th grader Abrielle Pavia offered by UNM

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Throughout his tenue as the UNM women’s basketball coach, Mike Bradbury has routinely tied to keep New Mexico’s top talent inside the Land of Enchantment. Now, another young baller has been offered a spot with the Lobos.

Abrielle Pavia, the younger sister of former Volcano Vista, NMMI, NMSU and current Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia, recently attended a camp with her club team and caught the attention of the UNM staff. Even though she is only a rising eighth grader and is a member of the class of 2029, she posted on social media that she received an offer.

“I was shocked, I’m not going to lie,” she said. “I was very honored, I was very honored and it felt great. It was a good feeling for sure.”

Abrielle has been playing basketball since she was four years old. She has worked with Fenton Fundamentals and is joining the Nike EYBL circuit this summer. She said that she thinks she will play for a high school in Albuquerque, but she is not sure where yet.
