ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – In the wake of the recent fires and flooding out of Ruidoso, members of the community are banding together to raise money in an interesting way: tattoos.
Neighbor helping neighbor, even if that neighbor is 200 miles away.
“It’s a really good way to get our friends together, and it’s a really good way to give back. We have a lot of fun,” said Aldo Gallegos with Archetype Tattoo.
Archetype Tattoo spent their weekend raising money for the victims of the South Fork and Salt fires with 100% of Sunday’s proceeds going to the Ruidoso relief fund.
“We just got back from Ruidoso as far as for the convention and for this to happen so soon, we’re just ready to rally and hopefully other people can take note, small businesses,” said Chelsey Moore with Archetype Tattoo.
They aren’t the only tattoo studio doing this event; other venues, like Scorpion Tattoo, in Ruidoso are doing.
“I think it’s important for everybody, including our surrounding areas, to come together to help our people,” said Moore.
This isn’t archetypes first tattoo flash event, they say they’ve done this before for other causes. On Sunday, they had over 90 designs to choose from for this event.
“As well for streamlining the event so we can help as many people as possible, raise as much as possible,” said Gallegos.
Archetype said they have had 200 people reaching out wanting to take part in the event. Those who came out for it excited to get new ink and help a good cause.
“I’m just in support of Ruidoso, you know. It’s been a really nice experience, really, and we love the shops. We’ve been here before,” said one customer.
