Fridayz Live Not Going Ahead In 2024

In another blow to Australia’s festival scene, one of the country’s most popular events, Fridayz Live, won’t be going ahead this year.

The festival, which has enjoyed six editions as of 2023, takes place annually in arenas across Australia in November. It brings the hits of the ‘90s and ‘2000s from artists including Nelly, TLC, Craig David, Kelly Rowland, Kelis, Usher, 50 Cent, Macklemore, and many more.

The bad news was shared on the Fridayz Live Instagram today (19 September), with organisers stating that they couldn’t lock in a line-up “worthy enough” for punters this year. While it’s sad to hear, organisers assure punters that the festival will be “bigger and better” in 2025.

You can read the statement below.

“Hey Fridayz Fam 🫶 it’s gonna burn for us to say this – Fridayz Live won’t be happening this year,” organisers wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of one of 2022’s headliners, Akon.

“We couldn’t pull together a line-up worthy enough for our amazing fans, so we’re hitting the pause button – for now. But don’t stress, we won’t be gone for long. Fridayz will be back, bigger and better in 2025. Stay tuned.”

As a fan commented in the Fridayz Live Instagram comment section, the loss of this year’s event is particularly devastating, as we’ve lost a wonderful opportunity to pay tribute to a festival favourite, Fatman Scoop.

Fridayz Live follows Australian events, including the Birdsville Big Red Bash, Dark Mofo, Falls, and others going on hiatus. At the same time, festivals, including Splendour In The Grass, Groovin’ The Moo, and more, have been cancelled this year.

In a review of Fridayz Live at Brisbane Showgrounds in 2019, The Music’s Georgia Maclaren concluded of the exciting event that hosted 50 Cent, Jason Derulo, Janet Jackson, Brandy, and other acts: “Enjoyable and inspiring, RNB Fridays proves worth the wait in the lines.”
