APD tracks DWI suspect to UNMH parking lot

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A new video from police shows just how desperately one person wanted to escape a high-speed chase.

Albuquerque Police Department (APD) reported a silver BMW fled from a traffic stop east on Central just before midnight Sunday night. They said the vehicle ran red lights, had no license plates, and incorrectly passed other drivers.

At one point, the APD helicopter spotted a woman jumping out of a passenger seat as the car sped off again. She jumps up and takes off running.

The car eventually stopped at the UNMH parking lot where police encountered him hiding under the vehicle.

APD arrested the driver, identified as Isaac Suina, 20, for DWI, aggravated fleeing, and evading an officer. They said a second passenger tried to get Suina to stop, but he didn’t.

Police did not charge that passenger or the woman who jumped out of the car.
