It will be a painfully quiet week of weather across most of New Mexico. Little to no rain is in the forecast with warmer than average high temperatures.
It was a cool start to the day across New Mexico for the first full day of fall (which officially began Sunday morning). With the dry air in place across the state though, temperatures have warmed up quickly in the 70s and 80s across the state, along with southern Colorado. A couple isolated showers and storms popped up in the northern mountains, but that was all the rain in the state. Skies will stay clear to mostly clear tonight with calm conditions. Low temperatures will be cool again to start the day Tuesday.
A couple spotty showers may develop Tuesday afternoon in parts of southern New Mexico, but again almost all of the state will be dry. It will be an even warmer afternoon Tuesday, with the exception of northeast New Mexico where a weak backdoor front will be moving through. It will only leave temperatures a few degrees cooler though. This front will continue to push across the state Tuesday night, bringing a breezy east wind into the Rio Grande Valley. It will bring in slightly cooler temperatures Wednesday afternoon in southeast New Mexico, but the rest of the state will see little to no difference behind the front.
This stretch of calm and dry weather will continue into the weekend. High temperatures in Albuquerque could flirt with 90° Friday through Sunday. Breezy winds may return to parts of the state this weekend, along with some evaporating rain showers. Otherwise, the state will stay warm and dry through the end of September.
