Warm and dry weather continues for New Mexico

It will be another dry day across New Mexico. High temperatures continue to climb.

Rain is no where in sight across New Mexico. These dry conditions will persist for the next few days. They are largely caused by a high pressure system forming over the Rocky Mountains. The high pressure is causing sinking air over the state. This is keeping away the rain and allowing the temperatures to heat up.

Tonight a cold front will be moving its way into New Mexico. This front will cool off the overnight lows. This will be especially prominent in the northeast where lows will drop to the mid 40’s overnight. However, high temperatures during the day will stay warm.

By Thursday the high pressure over the Rocky Mountains will move right over New Mexico and settle over the New Mexico/ Mexico border. The placement of the High will allow temperatures to feel like summer again near the end of the week. Record High temperatures are possible on Thursday and Friday.

Rain will be returning to New Mexico again on Friday. The Sangre de Cristo and Jemez Mountains can expect isolated storms Friday afternoon and evening.
