Bookings For 2025 Carclew In School Programs Now Open

Since its inception over half a century ago, Carclew has been facilitating the creative development of young people in South Australia.

Through its partnership with the Department of Education, Carclew sought to expand on that worthy tradition by launching a series of Carclew In Schools programs, which has continued with great success over the past few years.

Carclew In Schools employs professional artists to visit classrooms and engage artistically with students. This program benefits educators and students, as teachers will be encouraged to work alongside the artists, seek advice on creative teaching practices, and forge robust relationships with South Australia’s vibrant professional arts community.

The program promises to provide schools with an “authentic art workshop experience” relevant to their curriculum. It will also provide a highly-skilled, experienced artist to present the workshop, a Carclew coordinator for all liaising purposes, and all the consumable materials that the workshop will require.

Carclew is offering four exciting Student Arts programs in 2025, many of which will focus on First Nations’ artistic and cultural practices.

Aboriginal Artists in Schools “draws on the expertise of Aboriginal Elders, artists, and cultural practitioners to provide art-form-specific and cross-curriculum learning within the unique context of each school.”

Nunga Days “initiates meaningful local connections, curiosity and a celebration of Aboriginal arts and culture for communities wanting to actively and authentically work towards key pillars of reconciliation – respect, relationships, and opportunities.”

Culture Beats “offers contemporary music and dance workshops led by First Nations artists for First Nations young people,” supporting “young people to increase their wellbeing, creative skills, and sense of connection to community and identity.”

Artists in Schools “is a hands-on art workshop program that connects students with local professional artists to expand their art experiences, skills and understandings” while also “exploring a theme of the school’s choosing.”

More information is available on Carclew’s website, where the School Handbook 2025 can be downloaded, and forms to secure bookings can be easily filled out.
