TOWNS Announce Release Of Long-Awaited Debut Album

TOWNS, the Adelaide-based pop-punk two-piece, today announced the imminent release of their debut album, sentimental slowdown.

Slated for a November 15th release via partnered labels Farmer & The Owl and BMG, the album is the product of a decade of ride-or-die friendship.

Reflecting on their musical – and emotional – journey together, the two sole members of the band, Aston Valladares and Dan Steinert, say, “We first met on our first day of uni, dreaming of achieving just a fraction of the incredible things we’ve been fortunate enough to do. This album feels like a chapter in the story of everything we’ve experienced together.”

To celebrate the album announcement, TOWNS has shared the single TANTRUM across all streaming platforms. Catchy and anthemic, the track encapsulates the sonic spirit of the band: bolstered by a manic drumbeat and energetic guitar-work, it is bold, flailing, dissonant, and, ultimately, triumphant.

According to the band, the song explores the notion of “recognising one’s own childish behaviours and figuring out which to keep and which to let go” while navigating the rocky terrain of adulthood. “Unfortunately, as a child, those emotions weren’t taken seriously, so we bring them into adulthood unresolved,” they say.

sentimental slowdown promises to be a high-energy yet reflective odyssey into the tension between personal growth and nostalgia. TOWNS intends for the album to express the desire to slow down in a fast-paced world that constantly pushes you to “grow up and let go”.

As veterans of the road, TOWNS’ sentimental slowdown tour is sure to be a riot. The duo will be taking their high-energy sound across the country for several exciting national shows, including supporting Between You & Me in May and Trophy Eyes and Boston Manor (UK) in August.

Tickets for various stops along the tour are available now, and TANTRUM is currently streaming everywhere. Their November release is definitely one to keep in mind.
