UNMH hosting multiple flu vaccine clinics

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Colder weather is around the corner, which means so is flu season.

For those interested, UNM Health is hosting multiple flu shot clinics for adults or children over six months old.

“The flu virus keeps changing,” commented Meghan Brett, MD. “This year’s flu is different from last year. Also, the flu vaccine only lasts through one season. So, it’s important to get vaccinated every year. It’s recommended that you get vaccinated in September or October because that will last you through flu season.”

“Some people may feel crummy for seven days, but other people have much more serious effects from flu,” Brett stated. “That could include hospitalization, being on a breathing machine and even death. It’s very important that people get vaccinated, particularly those who have underlying health conditions.”

You will not need payment or documentation to get a shot.
