ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive excerpt from Frank Miller’s Ronin Rising, the long-awaited sequel to the legendary comic book series from Miller.
Originally published by DC Comics between 1983 and 1984, Ronin told the story of a ronin who was reincarnated and awakens in a dystopian version of New York City. Soon, he begins planning on how to kill the reincarnation of his master’s killer.
The series was a massive success and earned Miller a ton of praise and accolades, and now he’s back with a sequel series.
When does Ronin Rising come out?
Ronin Rising releases on October 8, 2024, and is published by Frank Miller Presents and Abrams ComicArts. There will be two different editions of Ronin Rising to pick up, one of which is a hardcover Collector’s Edition, and the other a paperback “manga edition” from Kana, Abrams ComicArts’s manga imprint.
Ronin Rising is written by Miller himself, who also provides both the cover and two chapters of interior art. Other art in the sequel is done by Philip Tan and Daniel Henriques, who provide pencil and inks for chapters 1, 2, 3, and 5. The book includes Miller’s layouts, with concept designs by Tan, six full-page wraparound variants, and a foreword by DC Comics President, Publisher, and CCO, as well as legendary artist and writer Jim Lee.
