Samsung has quietly unveiled its newest smartphone, the Galaxy A16 5G, which will have a huge six years of software support.
The phone hasn’t yet been officially announced but the company has listed it on its Dutch website which is where it was first spotted.
The smartphone is the successor to the A15 5G which was released last year.
As the company did the usual rundown of the product’s features and key selling points, it also described the mobile phone as being “future-proof with 6x OS upgrades.
“Your Galaxy A16 5G comes with up to 6 generations of OS upgrades and 6 years of security maintenance and is therefore always up to date.”
That means those who purchase the device can expect software updates until October 31, 2030. Although the South Korean-based company isn’t a stranger to offering long support like with its Galaxy S24 series which saw seven years of Android OS updates and security patches, it’s fairly uncommon for a budget device.

What does the Galaxy A16 5G have to offer?
The Galaxy A16 is an affordable option that supports 5G connectivity. It has a 6.7-inch screen with minimal edges and includes an FHD + Super AMOLED display.
It measures only 7.9mm thick, with the company saying it can fit, “comfortably in your hand, fits easily in your pocket and can be easily taken anywhere.”
There are four cameras in total, including the front 13MP camera along with the back three which features an ultra-wide 5MP camera at the top, the main 50MP camera, and then the macro 2MP camera at the bottom.
It has a 2.4GHz CPU processor and a 5,000 mAh battery along with Super Fast Charging. It’s available to buy now on the Dutch website and comes in numerous colors like Blue Black, Light Gray, Gold, and Light Green.
Since first being spotted on the Dutch website, the listing is now visible on the French site too.
